Connacht Flower Farm
Connacht Flower Farm is a specialist cut-flower enterprise and part of the Connacht Horticulture Enterprises Group. Located in Kiltullagh, Co. Galway, the farm is dedicated to growing peonies, with three carefully chosen varieties produced for Irish and international markets. Our peony tubers were sourced from Green Works in Schagerbrug, Netherlands, recognised leaders in peony production.
Established in autumn 2023, the farm now spans almost five acres with close to 30,000 plants. As the only large-scale peony farm in the west of Ireland, the challenges are significant, but they result in a crop of exceptional quality. As the plants mature, production will exceed 300,000 stems annually. Peonies are a sought-after summer flower, particularly popular within the wedding and events market.
We grow three peony varieties: Sarah Bernhardt (pink), Red Sarah Bernhardt, and Duchess de Nemours (white). These varieties were carefully selected for their colour range, strong stems and proven performance, as well as their suitability for the soil conditions and weather typical of the west of Ireland, ensuring consistent quality year after year.

Grown well, peonies offer exceptional stem quality and vase life, making them a favourite with florists.

Sarah Bernhardt
Sarah Bernhardt is a classic pink peony, renowned for its large, full blooms and soft, pink colour. It performs exceptionally well in the west of Ireland, producing strong stems and abundant flowers each summer.
Highly popular in weddings and floral arrangements, this variety combines elegance and reliability, making it a favourite for both domestic and international markets.
Red Sarah Bernhardt
Red Sarah Bernhardt is valued for its intense, vibrant blooms and slightly smaller, more compact flowers, making it ideal for striking floral arrangements.
Its hardy nature and reliable flowering suit the west of Ireland climate, while the dramatic colour makes it a favourite for bold summer displays, adding contrast and depth to bouquets and garden borders alike
Duchess de Nemours
Duchess de Nemours is a classic white peony, celebrated for its large, fragrant blooms and refined, layered petals. Its elegant form makes it a favourite for weddings and premium floral arrangements.
With strong, sturdy stems and consistent flowering, it provides a striking contrast to pink and red peonies. This variety works beautifully both in garden displays and as part of high-quality bouquets, offering reliable performance and abundant blooms throughout the summer season.
